vibrant and versatile social media and business Shots of adam rubins - founder of the arc

I recently had my first man in the studio - yes you heard me right!

I absolutely love working with women and for a long time it’s been pretty much exclusively women… However as time has gone on, I’ve had more and more enquiries from people who love the bright, colourful and joyful photos that I create. So why not brach out?

My ethos stays the same. I take my time with everyone who comes into the studio, regardless of gender, creating a fun and relaxed atmosphere that I find vital to getting all of the personality packed into the photographs!

Adam was totally up for playing along with all my ideas, and the results speak for themselves.

We had a chat with Adam during and after the shoot:

“i’m a big fan of colour and personal branding”

-Adam Rubins

introduce yourself and what you do

I’m Adam Rubins and I am founder of The Arc which is a management consultancy. I work with independent agencies to help advise them on growth, and where relevant I help them to realise value by selling the business. I also do coaching and mentoring for CEOs and for leadership and I do a lot of M&A work too, so the buying and selling of businesses.

where have you come from today?

I’ve come from London. I was really looking forward to coming to Exeter and seeing what Exeter is all about! It’s a long way to go to be photographed but… I think it’s worth it having looked at your stuff!

how are you feeling about being in front of the camera?

I feel quite nervous because I’m not a good subject when it comes to photography I don’t like looking at myself - I don’t know if your other clients are the same but… no, I’m ready! I’m ready to go.

“it was really enjoyable and i got some great shots - super happy.”

- Adam Rubins

what have been your biggest achievements/wins or what are you most proud of in your career?

Biggest achievement so far… well I’ve only been going for about a year and a half and it’s been a bit of a whirlwind post Covid. Having worked in house at Disney and then agency at the way to blue, it was a good opportunity for me to try and do something else, sort of pivot away from what I’ve traditionally done.

I think the biggest win for me has been having a successful business in year one.

We bought and sold a business in year one which was my goal - to be on both the buy side and sell side, and I’m working with some incredible clients helping them to grow. I completed a coaching and mentoring course as well so, I’ve really really enjoyed it so far!

“rosie’s work is very colourful, it really stands out…

if you think about social media now, you’ve got to stand out

- Adam Rubins

do you have any upcoming projects you would like to talk about?

A lot of travel. I work with one of the biggest agencies in the world of entertainment, I’m helping them to grow internationally, so I’m doing a lot of travel with them. I’m off to L.A next week and we have a big trip coming up to Asia!

I’ve got quite a big pipeline of M&A stuff going on, businesses that I’m selling.

I think other than the travel and M&A stuff, I’m thinking about my business as a brand and how I can refresh it moving forward.

why did you need new photos?

Well, doesn’t everyone always need new photos! I’ve got one that I use on everything and its probably quite corporate, and probably quite stiff… but it was when I was thin, so I like it… laughs

I just love your (Rosie’s) work, I love how colourful it is. I’m a big fan of colour and a big fan of personal branding as well, so you know, I think the two sort of collide and I was really interested to get this done!

how do you want to come across in your photos?

Likeable, nice, humorous… so I don’t want them to be very authentic… laughs

…Just as someone who’s quite approachable and relatable!

what do you specifically like about rosie’s work?

Well as I mentioned before, Rosies work is very colourful, it really stands out.

I mean if you think about social media now, you’ve got to stand out in a timeline or a feed.. I always see other people that I know or am connected to that have used Rosie, and it immediately leaks out to me. So if it has the same effect on me then, that’d be great!

as a side note, who have i worked with that you’ve seen online?

Jeniffer Corcoran, I follow quite a lot of her stuff I like the way she positions her brand, and what she does on LinkedIn. I think what you’ve done with her has been great and she’s obviously always promoted you as well.

we should have gotten her up here! she’s only down the road… anyway, how was your day of photographs?

I really enjoyed it, I probably wasn’t as relaxed as I ought to have been at the beginning. but once I settled down into it, it was really enjoyable and I got some great shots - super happy.

Doesn’t Adam look FAB!
